Quicksand

This afternoon we used cornflour and water to try to create quicksand and then work out what state of matter this was.

There was a lot of messy fun as well!!

Friday's History

On Friday we were learning about the Great Wall of China. 

We had a modelling competition using play-dough to build the best replica of the Great Wall.

Congratulations to Connor, Hugo, Harvey, Arthur, Jack and Braydon who built the winning wall.

Dr Seuss

This morning we read a number of Dr Seuss books and discussed their common features.

• Lots and lots of rhyming
• Tongue twisters - "Fritz needs Fred and Fred needs Fritz."
• Repetition
• Loads and loads of made up words - "Glotz and Klotz"
• Funny illustrations - combinations and inventive, crazy trees
• Characters that are people / animal things
• Characters are often furry and wacky
• Very colourful - but often mixed with black and white too
• A meaning sitting in behind the fun of the story - like in The Lorax where they show us that we should take care of the Earth
• Humour - they make us laugh

Have lemons? Make lemonade!

This afternoon we brought along lemons, squeezers, jugs, baking soda and sugar. We talked about chemical reactions that are made by using baking soda and what this does to the water. Harvey was once again a scientist!
