Winter Poems

This morning Ms Saxon challenged us to be brave, here are some of the results...

Zack
Winter's white coat conceals the green grass
God's tears of sorrow sparkle on the white death
As dew drops illuminate cobwebs
Trees holding secrets in their long, narrow fingers
Clutched tight
The white death has arrived.

Freddie
Clenched teeth
Against winter's deadly blow
Wind scratching at you
Like an abandoned animal
As snowflakes fall
The blind skeletal trees mistake them for their lost children.

Frosted grass tips
Thawed by footsteps
The grey skies engulf the place you call home
Taking away the daylight,
Darkness making the misty mornings silent.

Biting wind attacks the trees
Making them curse the winter's behaviour.

Harvey
As the green cloak the trees wear
Is whisked away
The the snow engulfs the tree in a new cloak.

As the cloud's water
Pours onto the dewy morning ground
And the grey watering cans floating in the sky
Enveloping the sun and darkening the area.

As the still wind steals the trees' blanket
Enraging the trees
But the trees show no mercy
Then reaching for its old summer cloak.

Leah
Sillness increased
Silence returns
Autumn's turned its back on us
Winter's begun.

Skeletal trees stiffen
Loneliness approaches
As winter lays its white cloak on us
Out white wonderland appears.

The loss of leaves
Brings adrenaline to the leaves
As they reach out in vain.

As the misty, grey blanket
Envelopes the sky
A dim light looks over us
Reminding us it's winter.

Connor
The damp ground
Surrounding any victim
Showing no mercy on the battlefield.

The skeleton reaching out for a coat of leaves
Covering its secrets.

The grey, misty skies
Enveloping the mountain's coat
As snow eddys to the ground.

Dillon
The skeletal trees reach out
Beckoning their lost coats back.

Warmth cowers away
Like a defeated seargent
While the birds' songs cease
As they settle in their nests.

The frosted leaves lay motionless on the ground
Sinking deeper into the sleet
While their owners star stare blankly at the sight.

Kayden
Skeletal trees sit hiding the birds
From the crazy weather outside
Waiting for the damp ground to be dry again.

Water drops slither down the bird's winter coat
The fog envelopes the trees
Leaving no trace.

So the birds go and find their next victim.

Zak
A lonely tree
Standing with weak roots
Its skinny fingers
Reaching to the freezing air
Tiny ice cubes
Dripping from branches
As a chilling wind
Strips the tree bare.

Marlon
Solitary trees
Beckoning for leaves to come.

Grey misty sheet of fog,
Enveloping the frost ground.

Soldiers of no mercy,
Devour everything in their path.

White sheets of snow
Coat the hills,
Spreading joy to everyone.

Isla
The sky is grey throughout,
Days and nights cry without end,
Descending from the broken trees,
Comes summer's ghost.

The sun is grasped with mighty talons,
And cloaked in shimmering frost,
Enveloped in the thought of time.

The wind rushes to grab the leaves,
But only chases them further away,
Yet they fall to the ground all the same,
Saying goodbye to a world they once knew.

Ella
Icy, sharp raindrops continuously pounding down
On the freezing ground
The air becomes still as it moves on its journey.

Leaves tumble onto the white carpeted ground
The skeletal trees reaching out to grasp them
They bring their branches back in sorrow.

... Winter.
